3D laser scanning is very important in quarry exploitation.

Based on spatial scan data the following can be done:

• Excavation cubage calculation
• Excavation planning
• Monitoring excavation volume

• Quarry management and further exploitation planning are made significantly easier by these possibilities.
• For example, it is easy to calculate how deep to dig in order to get the desired cubage, which further enables the choice of the best place for a dig, etc.

• Repeated scanning within certain time intervals enables the calculation of the exact excavation volume based on the comparison of the two models.
